Hi, I'm looking at getting an African Grey adult.
There are some advertised that say they only like males or females.
My question is would a bird that seems to prefer a male or female bond with someone of the opposite sex in a new home.
Is it more they prefer a curtain human in their current home or is it about only liking males or females?
any advise would be great

First of all welcome to the forum :)

In most cases it’s more about bonding with a specific person, not a hard rule about only liking men or women. African Greys are very social and tend to choose “their person” based on time, trust, and interaction.

A bird that currently prefers males or females can absolutely bond with someone of the opposite sex in a new home, especially with patience and positive experiences. It just may take a little time.

So, I would say personality, handling style, and consistency usually matter far more than gender.
