Hi everyone
I’ve been thinking about something lately — do you think our pets know when it’s time to leave us?
When my African Grey, Mitthu, passed away, I still remember how calm he was that day. He didn’t want to eat much, didn’t want to play. He just looked at me quietly for a long time, almost like he was saying, “It’s okay… you’ll be fine.”
You can read more about him here.
At the time I didn’t understand, but looking back, it feels like he knew.
I’ve heard so many similar stories — dogs who rest their head one last time in their owner’s lap, cats who find a quiet place to curl up, parrots who stop talking but stare with love in their eyes. It’s both heartbreaking and beautiful how they seem to sense the moment before we ever do.
Maybe animals are just more connected to life and nature than we’ll ever understand. Maybe it’s their way of preparing us for the goodbye.
What do you think? Have you ever felt like your pet somehow knew it was their time to go?
Please share your story — it might comfort someone who’s going through that same pain right now.
