I used to see Robins a lot when I lived in Northern California. We don't have them at my house here in Los Angeles. That must be so nice to see them. I did see a woodpecker on my palm trees out front a few days ago. That surprised me. A cute little guy. We get lots of hummingbirds too.
When I lived in England, Robins were winter birds. What Canadians call Robins are a different species and are summer birds. Their breasts are not as red as the British birds and they eat worms which would be impossible in our frozen winters. Seeing a Robin is cause for joy here because it means Spring has arrived.
